WMV, an abbreviation of Windows Media Video, is one of the existing mainstream video file formats. It was
developed by Microsoft Corporation and is widely supported by Windows-based PCs and different multimedia devices,
for instance Zune, Smartphone, Xbox, etc. Since March 2006, WMV has been accepted as one of the video encoding
standards.
MPG files are MPEG-based video files which may use older encoding methods. It’s also a commonly used video
format.
Before producing a WMV file, you'll need to decode the file into uncompressed video and audio streams, and then
use a Windows Media encoder to encode them. ----Does that sound difficult to operate? Then we'll find certain
software to do everything for us. Here I'll show you how to convert MPG to WMV using
Aimersoft Video Converter. You can free download mpg to
wmv converter and Try it. After a quick and easy installation, double click the icon on your desktop to
launch it.
The "Getting Started" screen has indicated what we should do in order: add files, click “Edit”, click
“settings”, click “start”.
Let's follow step one: click the "Add..." button on the top-left corner. A dialog box will prompt up to let you
select the files you want to convert. Locate your video files and click OK.
Next, we'll select a preset from "Profile" below. Click the context menu, select "Common Video", then "WMV -
Windows Media Video" ---- this is just for instance; if you'd like to convert WMVs for your other multimedia
players like Zune or Xbox, just choose from their corresponding presets. Then we’ll check the “Apply to All” box by
the box, as we expect all output files be in WMV format.
If conversion is all you need, just skip the steps 2 and 3, and click “Start”. The converter will start
processing the video file, as is shown below.
If you need more tweaking before outputting, let's head back to step 2. Click the “Edit” button on the top; here
you can trim the original video, set brightness and contrast at your will, add effects and watermarks----a
real-time preview window plays along with the original video during your edit so that all changes can be previewed
for your convenience. When you feel content with the changes you've applied, click “OK” to return to the
converter window.
Now we follow the 3rd step. Click “Settings” button by the profile menu on the bottom. Here you can adjust the
encoding methods, bitrate values and audio formats. If you have experience at producing videos, you'll be familiar
with all the parameters listed.
After configuring and tweaking, click “Start” and let the converter do the rest.
If you have a queue of video files to convert, “Shut down computer when conversion completed” can release you
from monitoring the computer all the time.
That's all. With Aimersoft Video Converter, you can convert any video into WMV format in a few clicks' time, in
an expert's way. Try and see for yoursel
